Update: Wright Bros First Flight Painting
Where's the Wright Bros?
I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day! As my father said at the end of the audio I had attributed to a previous post, “Love Wins, Always and Forever.”
Today I made a call to Burchard Galleries in St. Petersburg, Florida about their auction event happening tomorrow which I previously wrote about, pondering whether the second version of William Mix’s Wright Bros First Powered Flight would be included.
The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and courteous. According to his system, however, the piece they had registered as “Bi-Plane Illustration” by William Mix was in their auction house 2 years ago. They do not have record of whether or not the piece, itself, was sold… but he did detect and could tell me that all of the paintings or pieces around it were sold around that time, seemingly all in one fell swoop.
The mystery pervades. The piece that is actually a depiction of the first powered flight is out there—somewhere unknown at this time and perhaps indefinitely. That is alright. I trust it rests, protected, exactly where it is meant to be. I am at peace with it—no pun intended!
I have been working all day today to reactivate my etsy shop. Soon all of these pieces will be available as reproductions in jigsaw puzzle form, at the least, as history educational tools. I am committed to follow what I am called to about this project, this extensive undertaking about my life and my role as an artist’s daughter. One step at a time.
I will keep you all updated once the etsy shop is fully available for browsing. Until then, I know my father’s spirit resides within and about each of the original paintings out there possibly around the globe.
Thanks for following along! Thanks so much also to my very first paid subscriber. I truly appreciate the support. Sending a round of hugs out to all who follow this journey!
All the Love,
Colleen Noelle
